2011: A Year In Review

Looking back at my blog exactly one year ago today I posted a recap on my life in 2010. As I've spent a lot of time in the past week thinking about 2011 and how much I changed over the past year I felt it only fitting to continue this tradition. So I guess now you can expect a post every January 4th with a summary of the past year!

Sometimes throughout the year it's hard to see what you're actually accomplishing. If I am sitting at home on the weekends I'm wishing I was more adventurous and that I was doing more traveling. Wherever I am, I often think about what I could be doing that is more exciting and thrilling, and that's probably not the best mindset to have. However, looking back on the past year I'd definitely have to say I had quite the adventure. In a similar format as last year, let's go back in time...

Spent New Years Eve in the mountains of North Carolina with all of my friends from home. Watched the Gamecocks lose to FSU in the Chick-fil-A bowl, drank champagne, saw the ball drop, all of the norms.

State Count: MD, VA, NC, SC, GA, FL, AL, MS, LA, TX, TN, IL & Washington DC (sad that this list is considerably shorter than last year's but I guess that's a good '12 challenge)

Potentially a year ago today (sometime during the first week of January), I met Mr. Charming and my world was turned upside down. After weeks of emailing and phone calls we had our first date on January 22...and the rest is history.

Attended Carolina Basketball, Baseball and Football games along with one Atlanta Braves and three Texas Rangers games.

Saw Luke Bryan and Taylor Swift in concert.

Was a facilitator at Tri Sigma's Officer Academy and was able to attend the Keystone Conference with the chapter of Beta Theta Pi that I advise.

Traveled to New Orleans for Mardi Gras with some grad school friends, saw parades, collected pounds of beads and had beignets at Cafe Du Monde.

Attended my first professional conference, ACPA, in Baltimore.

WENT SKY DIVING.

Put together a preppy outfit and went to the Masters...saw Tiger Woods (eeek!)

Was able to show Mr. Charming around Wilmington and UNCW for the 20th anniversary reunion for my chapter of Tri Sigma. Beach bars and all!

Spent the summer in Ft. Worth, TX interning at TCU. Was able to travel to Arlington, Dallas & Austin. Ate at In & Out Burger and Sprinkles Cupcakes. Went to Rangers games, Six Flags Over Texas, amazing outlets, and toured the Dallas Cowboys Stadium. Saw the cattle drive in the historic Stockyards numerous times and melted while eating at Joe T. Garcias. Went to Billy Bob's, the largest honky tonk in the world and did some line dancing on the floor.

Was lucky enough that both my parents and Mr. Charming flew out to The Lonestar State to visit me over the summer.

Started working at the Career Center at USC, and ironically enough finally figured out what I wanted to do with my own career.

Moved my little sister into her residence hall at South Carolina, across the street from my office!

Traveled to Chicago for the first of many wolfpack weddings, sharing in Mr. Charming's first experience of "big city" life.

Brought Mr. Charming home for Thanksgiving to meet all of the family and took the history buff around DC.

Somehow survived the hardest semester of my life and still maintained a great GPA.

Had my first stay at a bed & breakfast in NC, and then traveled to the OBX for the annual New Years trip.

A year full of new experiences, new people and plenty of self-discovery. Just as I felt at the beginning of my last semester of college, I get panicky thinking about the fact that I have absolutely no clue where I'll be this time next year. With all of the opportunities I've had so far in life I know I'll be somewhere great...and I can't wait to figure out where that will be!
