Just like that it's the start of my third academic year on the campus that I work at. How did that happen? I can still remember my first day, and the first day of classes that we had students back just like it was yesterday. And I hear it only keeps going faster each year. Yikes!
With some new responsibilities at work this year I must admit that I've succumbed to a bit of self doubt about my knowledge and abilities to succeed. I am excited to dive in, but y'all--just a bit nervous! A twinge of imposter syndrome has given me a few moments where I've felt that I'm not sure that I'm up for the challenge, even though I'm certainly more than capable.
This quote has been one that I've always kept close to me, knowing that it is all too true. There have been many things I haven't pursued in life because of the challenge and I know at this point I would have been able to succeed in all of those if I had gotten past the fear of failing. Today and this year I'm going to be reaching into the light and pulling out everything that I've got as I pursue these new responsibilities and tackle some side dreams that I have.
After a good pep talk from Mr. Young yesterday, this week's Monday Motivation will hopefully bring power to all of y'all reading out there. While I've seen Mr. Young coaching, I've never been a part of his huddles or pep talks and I can certainly see why his players appreciate him so much. I am lucky to have him around to challenge and inspire me for the rest of my days.
So as you encounter that task today that you don't think you can handle--go for it. Self doubt will get you nowhere y'all!
